PNW Baby Shower

PACIFIC NW BABY INVITE

Last Saturday there was a little baby shower celebration for our dear friend {Sabrina}.  {Sabrina} is having a little boy in May. A few girls decided to throw her a very small baby shower with a Pacific Northwest (PNW) theme. The location was perfect – Lot 3 in Bellevue. Think hipster plaid, mason jars, comfort food, eclectic flowers, twine, mustaches, and coffee beans.  Here is a glimpse of the baby festivities…

Hipster Christmas

Hipster Christmas

December 22nd is officially Hipster Christmas. Hipsters don’t celebrate Christmas on the 25th because celebrating on the 25th is way too mainstream. I found inspiration for a Hipster Christmas on Pinterest. Here is a glimpse…

Here are 20 tips to a successful Hipster Christmas from the official Hipster Christmas website:

1. All attendees should arrive via fixed speed bicycle.

2. See whose messenger bag can fit the most gifts.

3. Ugly sweaters are so mainstream. They are ironic again so do it up.

4. If you were one of Santa’s reindeer, which one would you be? Discuss. (Rudolph is the wrong answer)

5. Make sure you wear your wayfarers when looking at bright holiday lights.

6. Unless you have a real mustache, everyone must wear a fake mustache.

7. Compare your Four Square statuses with other partygoers.

8. Sufjan Steven’s holiday album is too popular. Listen to the Rat Pack who are so old that they are new again.

9. Ratio of Instragram pictures you take: moments of joy you should experience be no less than 3:1.

10. Enjoy an ironic light beer that’s so bad it’s good (it’s actually bad).

11. Drink eggnog out of mason jars. Make sure it’s made from free-range eggs.

12. Try not to catch your bangs on fire while lighting Christmas candles.

13. Have a conversation about whose gone the longest without cable.

14. Have a contest to see who has the most star tattoos.

15. Fake mustaches have now gone mainstream. Get rid of fake mustaches.

16. No matter how much you eat, you must not undo the button of your skinny jeans.

17. Hack the Macbook Pro your dad bought you and install Windows 95.

18. Make New Year’s travel plans to either Williamsburg, East Austin or Silver Lake.

19. Have a debate about fonts.

20. Talk about how much you hate hipsters.

Office Space

What the Tech? Scrappy is the new Black!

Thursdays. I love Thursdays or what I call Friday Eve.  After work I went on a tour of SeaTech Connect with others from my firm. It was an office pub crawl of Seattle’s techy chic companies in downtown. The office crawl featured the following companies:  POP, Banyan Branch, Wexley School for Girls, Admosis/The Makers Space, HasOffers, and POSSIBLE. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see all the spaces, but was fascinated with the work environments I did see.
Here is a glimpse…

Wexley School for Girls

No it’s not a charm and etiquette school for little school girls. The name is misleading and you get the hint of  playful. The Wexley School for Girls is an AD Agency. At Wexley you will see a Liberace piano room, a Chinese restaurant Entry with Peking rubber ducks at the window, a camper meeting space, and a scrappy campy/mini golf feel to the rest of the space. I love the “let’s not take things so seriously” work environment.

Admosis/The Makers Space

The Makers Space features a 6,600 SF coworking space. The Makers space embraces the open concept with natural light filtering into the space. The office space features refurbished elements from bleacher floors, gym floor desks, and make filing cabinets look hipster cool. Makers welcomes all businesses that share the same work philosophy where technology allows people to work anywhere where people can share the work synergy by sharing the same work space.

POSSIBLE

Possible is another top Seattle AD Agency.  The office space is a mix of Modern and eclectic.  The space features an all white conference room called The Situation.  It’s a mix of new and old with old vintage furniture, but painted with a pop of color – modern mint green and modern coral/pink.  I love the exposed brick and high ceilings.

Warby Parker. Ocean Avenue Collection

Warby Parker. Ocean Avenue Collection

I heart Warby Parker. Today Warby Parker launches their new collection – Ocean Avenue.  The collection embraces nostalgic memories of the perfect summer. Everyone has their own perfect summer.  My perfect summer would be breezy bike rides on a summer day followed by a double scoop of ice cream on a waffle cone.  The Ocean Avenue collection features 14 sunnies and 8 optical frames that are custom acetate with hues like sea-glass blue, driftwood, orange fizz and chocolate soda to name a few.  The hipsters will scream over this collection. Here is a glimpse of the Warby Parker Ocean Avenue Collection
