i made face

I love discovering new apps. I stumbled upon this app called i made face.  It’s so fun to make a cartoon version of yourself.  This iphone app allows you to create cartoon style faces of you and anyone else you want to create. You can choose hairstyle, nose, eyes, lips, ears, mustaches for dudes, and background color.  It’s a little addicting. I asked a few friends to create their own cartoon version of themselves and I had a little fun creating cartoon versions for others. Here is a glimpse…

makeup monday // i love my ben nye banana powder

Ben Nye Powder

Hello and Happy Makeup Monday. I’ve been asked this question by many recently, “what powder do you use”?. Every time I get asked this question, I love giving my answer. Ben Nye – Banana Powder! I’ve been using this powder for a few years now and it’s the best best best best ever. BEST! I discovered it because all the other beauty bloggers kept talking about it and it was all the rage because Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist Mario used it on her. Let’s be honest, her makeup is always flawless. So…I decided to give it a whirl. Who is this Ben Nye guy? He was a renowned makeup artist for Hollywood. As he retired he created his own makeup company. I swear once you use his powder, you will never use anything else. This is silky-fine luxury powder and mattifying setting powder. I only apply it in the morning and my face is shine-free all day. It’s amazing. There are 4 colors – Banana, Beige Suede, Buff and Cameo. I’m a banana girl. Banana suits a range of skin tones as it softly and subtly color corrects surface redness and pink undertones, as well as neutralizes bluish under-eye circles. It’s magical. You can order Ben Nye online or try to find it locally. In Seattle, I found a distributor in West Seattle at a Theatrical Equipment store. You wouldn’t think to go to an equipment store, but is the only place in Seattle that sells it. Try it, it will change your life.

2 ways I use my Ben Nye Banana Powder…

as a contouring powder.

When contouring, use in tandem with a thick creamy concealer. Apply a thick layer of the powder under the eyes and in the center of the forehead. Allow the powder to set before dusting away the excess. Pull the brush or sponge lightly down over the face T-zone area. You can also apply the powder under the cheekbones and at the corners of the mouth for a more highlighted look.

As a finishing powder.

Ben Nye Powder is known for the flawless matte finish. You can either apply powder with a fluffy brush over the entire face or if contouring be sure to be only a light dusting of the powder over the highlighted areas to really make those areas pop.

This product really is amazing!!!

The Met Gala // 2015

Met Gala 2015

It’s that time of year again…the red carpet at the Met Gala.  It’s the annual ball which formerly kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s yearly Costume Institute exhibit.  It’s hands down the most stylish night of the year where it is more than beautiful dresses, it’s about the fashion moments.  This year’s theme – Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion. The dresses were Asian-inspired with embellishments of floral motifs and hints of red. Here are some inspiring fashion moments…

Audrey Hepburn

In honor of my beauty icon’s birthday, I dedicate makeup monday to my #1 beauty inspiration of all time – the one and only Audrey Hepburn.  Her timeless beauty embodies a simplicity of chic makeup which makes her an all-time timeless beauty. Her look can be described as classic, clean and polished. Her eyes were often accentuated with a sweep of black liner and big soft lashes. Bold brows were also a signature feature of Audrey and the trend is definitely back as seen on the runway and also in Hollywood.  She also went through many hair styles like the pixie, short fringe bangs, and many elegant up-dos such as the beehive and her famous Breakfast at Tiffany’s Chignon. She is timeless.

Elegance is the only beauty that never fades. – Audrey Hepburn

Sasquatch

Sasquatch 2015

Hello. I took a little blog break, but now I’m back.  I recently have been working on designing music concert posters for a professional soccer team. I’m having so much fun designing these music inspired posters. I will share my work at the end of the soccer season. I was looking to other music concert/festival posters for inspiration. One of them being Sasquatch. Sasquatch is an annual music festival held at the Gorge amphitheatre in Gorge, Washington. This festival is in May during Memorial Day Weekend. One of these years, I will go! I wanted to share the Sasquatch posters from present to past. Here is a glimpse…
