makeup monday // all about the base

mac cosmetics painterlyHappy makeup Monday! It’s really all about the base.  I absolutely cannot live without my MAC Cosmetics Paint Pot – Painterly.  This is a must-have for all beauty bags.  I use this product every single day!  I have tried many products for the base primer for eyeshadow and nothing beats this product. Painterly has a gorgeous soft-pink tone base. If you have more yellow undertones, I would go more towards Soft Ochre. I went back and forth with the two colors, but Painterly seems to agree more with my skin tone.  MAC’s paint pots are so amazing and the texture is smooth and blends very easily.

How I use it…

I use my fingertip and dip and take small amount – a little goes a long way. I sweep it across my eyelid and blend with my finger.  This provides the perfect base before applying your eyeshadow.   You would apply your eyeshadow as normal.  The beauty of this product is that it prevents your eyeshadow from creasing. After hours and hours after application, my eyeshadow always looks smoothly blended and this is because it was primed with MAC’s Painterly.  Another tip is that I also use this as a base for my eye brows. My good friend {Jennifer} taught me this trip. Basically, apply a small amount and blend over your brows. Apply your brow shadow with an angled brush or brow pencil. The primer will also keep your brow makeup in tack forever!
