Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style

Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent {August 1, 1936 – June 1, 2008}

Tonight was all about YSL fashion.  The Seattle Art Museum presents Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style, showcasing highlights from the legendary designer’s 44-year career. Drawn from the collection of the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent, the exhibition features new acquisitions by the Foundation that have never been shown publicly before. My friend {Maggie} and I had a fashion date and really enjoyed the work of YSL – master couturier and fashion pioneer.  The exhibit features over 100 couture pieces. It’s quite spectacular. Here is a glimpse…

{dom + elle look book cover options}

It has been a busy, busy, busy summer. I wanted to share my latest project with you. Last March, I partnered with a couture luxury swimwear designer for dom + elle {see original blog post}. We partnered again to create the first look book for the brand. I absolutely love creating look books {fashion + graphics} my two favorites. I love doing graphic layouts and making each page unique and stylized to the brand. For the typography, I went with a modern serif font that was inspired by fashion magazines like Vogue + Elle. Love the thin quality of the type and mixing it up with the sharpie-like handwritten font. This was such a fun project. {You can see the online look book here}  Here is a glimpse of the final cover and completed dom + elle look book…

World of WearableArt

Hello!  Last week my good friend {Christopher Rocco} took me on a little tour of one of Seattle’s latest exhibits at The Experience  Music Project {EMP}  – World of WearableArt. The show is absolutely spectacular. The show comes from New Zealand and it’s THE biggest art show. The show creates amazing theatrical garments which give designers the opportunity to be innovative and original. The show is so wonderful. Please come visit EMP and support the show! Here is a glimpse…

backstage at Rodarte

Rodarte 2016

The word for the look of the Rodarte 2016 Fall Fashion collection is ethereal.  I personally think the backstage scene is more interesting than the Runway show. I love that these backstage photos show you the fashion behind-the-scenes in a cool and edgy way.  Fashion, Hair, makeup…everything was on point. Here is a glimpse of the 2016 Fall Rodarte collection…

Golden Globes Makeup{Lily James}

Happy Makeup Monday. The Golden Globes always kicks off the beginning of awards season. I love this time of year. I love seeing all the elegant looks for both makeup and fashion. The Red carpet – it’s like girl sports. This year the beauty style for the 2016 Golden globes was especially impressive. I loved the effortless yet intricate updos and clean soft makeup. Loved it all – many, many pinworthy beauty inspirations. Here is a glimpse…

There were many beautiful dresses. Many, Many gorgeous looks. I have to say my absolute favorite dress of the night was the dress by Lily James. She looked fierce and flawless. I’m obsessed. So old Hollywood with a modern twist.

1966 fashion

fashion 1966

Hello and happy Sunday sparkles.  It’s going to take me a moment to get used to saying “2016”.  I wanted to take a look at fashion 50 years ago – 1966. Surprisingly, we see this year’s Pantone color (Rose Quartz) in 60’s fashion. In 1966 fashion was all about the non-existent waistline and more box like, hemlines above the knee, the military look and mod fashion. Here is a glimpse of the fashion trends of 1966…
