Vogue 2014 September Issue

September Issue

My Monday night was all about guilty pleasures – the fashion magazines and watching reality tv where they give out roses. I have been waiting weeks for Vogue’s September Issue to come out.  I finally got my hands on my own printed copy a day early.  For Fashion, the September issue is THE issue where fall trends are introduced and influence the direction of fashion. In the past, Vogue’s September issue has been dedicated for celebrity covers. The past few years Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Halle Berry, & Sienna Miller have all graced the cover of Vogue’s September issue. There has been controversy over the years for Anna Wintour, Editor-In-Cheif’s decision to put celebrities on the cover because it sells more magazines. Some of the fashion world would like to see models on the covers. For the September 2014 Issue Vogue decided to put the focus back on the Supermodel.  The cover is graced by Supermodels Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, and Karlie Kloss – the full cover folds out to reveal more Supermodels – Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente, and Andrea Diaconu.

Vogue September Issue

Vogue decided to call this issue the Instagirls Issue – all models are very Savvy on social media and they are building their own brands and empires. Photographer Mario Testino shot the cover.  I only have thumbed through the 856 page September Issue. I can’t wait for this long weekend so I can read this issue cover to cover. I must say, with all the controversy and secrecy with the cover of the September Issue, I’m honestly underwhelmed. I expected the cover to be a little bit more fierce. I mean it’s VOGUE.

Week in Pictures {effervescent}

Hello. We continue the Photo Project for 2014 – the random photos that I take throughout the week will embody a theme. In 2013 it was all about The Polaroid Project. If you haven’t seen The Polaroid Project video, please visit the post. My friend {Rebecca/Becca} gave me my word for this week {effervescent}. I love this word – fizzy/sparkling/bubbly/vivacious/enthusiastic. Here is a glimpse of my week…

A Summer Wedding…

Summer Wedding

On August 21, 2014 my friends David + Sara got married. In previous blogs you can see their Engagement photo shoot + Sara’s Bachelorette Party.  They got married on a perfect Seattle day and even Mount Rainier made a little cameo.  The groomsmen were dressed in shades of gray and the bridesmaids were in hues of blush.  The wedding was absolutely picturesque. Sara looked absolutely stunning.  Everything was perfection. Here is a glimpse of the Sara + David wedding…

The Real Carrie Bradshaw Apartment

The Real Carrie Bradshaw apartment

It’s been 10 years {2004} since Sex and the City aired it’s last episode of Season 6 and fashionistas and fans still talk about Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, & Samantha today. There were many fashion looks that evolved throughout the years and one in particular was Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. We have seen the famous apartment in New York’s Greenwich Village {64 Perry Street} and maybe guilty of taking selfies on the steps. What we didn’t know was that the actual West Village apartment was much grander than what was shown to the Sex and the City audience. The brownstone apartment lists for $9.65 million. I wonder if Carrie’s Sex and the City column salary could actually afford the real 4000+ SF chic apartment. Here is a glimpse of the real Carrie Bradshaw apartment…

The Real Carrie Bradshaw apartmentThe Real Carrie Bradshaw apartmentThe Real Carrie Bradshaw apartmentThe Real Carrie Bradshaw apartmentArchitect Robert Mook designed this charming brownstone with an Italian flare. The brownstone includes herringbone wood floors with inlaid borders, six fireplaces with carved marble, and ornate crown molding throughout the space. This apartment exudes historic beauty with touches of gold sparkle seen in the anchored chandeliers and sconces. This is totally different from the apartment we see on the show and in the movie.

Music Monday. Arcade Fire

Music Monday. Arcade Fire

Happy Monday. My friend {Kelly} invited me to the Arcade Fire concert this weekend at the Gorge at George, WA. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it. I had a few friends that went and said the show was amazing and magical.  Today, I thought I would dedicate Music Monday to Arcade Fire. This Indie Rock band from Montreal, Quebec consists of husband and wife Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, Win’s brother Will Butler, and Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury and Jeremy Gara. Wake Up is a classic. Listen and enjoy.
