Oscar de la Renta {July 22, 1932 – October 20, 2014}

The Fashion world mourned the loss of Oscar de la Renta yesterday.  Oscar de la Renta, a Dominican American Fashion Designer died in his home in Kent, Connecticut at the age of 82.

His career began in the 1950’s in Spain and then his fashion spread to Paris and New York. He became internationally known in the 1960’s as one of the many fashion designers to dress Jacqueline Kennedy. Oscar established his Fashion House in 1965. He was famous as being a couturier to rich socialites and as a red-carpet king.  His most recent lady to dress was George Clooney’s new wife Amal with features of lace overlay and off-the-shoulder delicate wedding dress ensemble. Oscar de la Renta is a fashion legend and will be missed.  He understood the female body. He did not create beautiful dresses or gowns; he created fairy tales. Oscar de la Renta, RIP.
